Happy Veterans Day…Thank You For Your Service
There are many reasons why people join the military, to get an education, to change socioeconomic situation, family legacy, etc. The one thing that is at the core to all these reasons is the willingness and understanding that military service may require the ultimate sacrifice.
Politicians make war but it is the youngest of our men and women who fight them. Unfortunately, sometimes it seems the same politicians are the ones who are the quickest to forget as they seek their next office or next reelection. The 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War is upon us and it is only fairly recently that these men and women have begun to be remembered and recognized.
It is up to all of us as citizens to ensure that those who were selected or volunteered to serve are never forgotten and are held up for the heroes and true role models of America and to also ensure that the lessons learned from each new war are never repeated.
This day, Veterans Day is to honor all who served their country, for the families that have an empty chair at the table, for the ones that returned but never made it all the way home. This is their day and on this day, please take a moment away from your day to think of what you can do, not only today, but everyday to honor those who served for the gifts they gave us all. FREEDOM, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
To all my brothers and sisters, THANK YOU!!
